Companion Recovery Rooms
HealthHaven companion rooms are designed so caregivers can stay alongside the patient they are supporting. Every companion room includes a separate sleeping area with a full-size bed or pullout sofa, a small work desk, and a private bathroom so you can rest without leaving the building.
Rooms come in two layouts: Side-by-Side, where both beds share the same space, and Suite, where a partition wall gives each person a quieter area. Both options include climate controls, blackout curtains, and in-room Wi-Fi.
To book a companion room, select "Add caregiver" during checkout. You can also convert an existing single reservation to a companion booking from the My Stays dashboard up to 48 hours before check-in.
Coordinating with Medical Teams
From your caregiver dashboard you can generate a Stay Summary that includes the lodging address, check-in and check-out dates, room phone number, and a map showing walking distance to the hospital. Share this summary directly with the care team via email or as a printed PDF.
Each HealthHaven property lists its distance from nearby hospitals and medical centers on the listing page. Use the Proximity Filter when searching to show only lodgings within a specific radius of the treatment facility.
Many locations partner with local transport services to offer scheduled shuttles between the property and the hospital. Check the Transport tab on your booking confirmation for shuttle schedules, ride-share discount codes, and wheelchair-accessible vehicle availability.
Self-Care During Recovery Support
Caring for someone else can be physically and emotionally draining. HealthHaven properties observe quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM so you can get uninterrupted sleep. Many locations also have a dedicated respite lounge where caregivers can read, meditate, or simply decompress away from the room.
On-site or nearby meal options are listed under the Dining section of each property page. Look for the Caregiver Meal Plan badge, which indicates that a host offers affordable daily meal bundles for accompanying guests.
Nearby services such as pharmacies, grocery stores, laundromats, and parks are mapped on the Neighborhood Guide available in your booking confirmation. If you need childcare recommendations, pet care, or other support services, contact the property host through the in-app messaging system.
Insurance & Financial Assistance
Some insurance plans cover caregiver lodging when it is medically necessary for the patient's recovery. Check with your insurance provider and request a Letter of Medical Necessity from the treating physician to support your claim.
HealthHaven partners with several nonprofit assistance programs that help offset lodging costs for caregivers of patients undergoing extended treatment. Visit the Financial Aid section in your account settings to view eligibility requirements and submit an application.
For reimbursement documentation, download an itemized receipt from My Stays > Billing. The receipt includes the property name, nightly rate, total charges, dates of stay, and the associated hospital or treatment facility, formatted for insurance submission.
Emergency Procedures
If a medical emergency occurs during your stay, call 911 (or your local emergency number) immediately. Then notify the property host through the Emergency button in the HealthHaven app, which sends an alert with your room number and location details.
Some properties list nearby shuttle or non-emergency ride options. These services cannot be used for emergencies. Availability, scheduling, and estimated response times are shown on the Transport tab of your booking when a property has provided those details.
HealthHaven support can help with lodging logistics, host communication, relocation options, or documentation requests. We are not an emergency service and do not coordinate medical care or emergency transport. Save the support number listed in your booking confirmation to your phone before check-in.
